Job Description:

*Job Title: Hardware Technician (NWS 00401)*

North Wind Services, is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customers mission. Available employment opportunities may range from administrative and logistical support to advanced technical positions.

Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly-motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.

The Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED)/Weapon Technologies and Engineering (WTE) Program supporting the Weapons and Complex Integration (WCI) Principal Directorate. has an opening for a Design Agency Production Hardware Technician. The W80-4 Life Extension Program (LEP) Joint Test Assembly (JTA) is a nuclear weapon surrogate test bed used for weapon system (warhead and missile) certification as well as assessment of the health of the nuclear weapon system throughout its lifetime. The JTA is a highly complex and integrated design consisting of diagnostics and data acquisition capabilities that will be deployed for the first time in our nuclear weapon's history.

This position may require the employee to have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and/or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.

*Essential Duties*

-Oversee hardware status and movement.

-Understand engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and assembly process.

-Monitor internal and external fabrication status. Update scheduled receipt of hardware.

-Coordinate hardware for build and test.

-Communicate changes in hardware quantity, fidelity, need dates, and delivery dates to relevant stakeholders.

-Work with component Product Realization Teams (PRTs), Hardware Managers, and other stakeholders to verify data is accurate.

-Manage travelers forms and track parts and equipment location.

-Make decisions using a high degree of independent discretion and judgement to balance hardware needs and hardware receive dates. Resolve issues by developing creative solutions.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

*Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities*

-Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.

-Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

-Understanding of engineering design, fabrication, and assembly.

-Expert organizational skills and detail-orientation necessary to oversee significant amount of information.

-Ability to effectively work within a team as a central point of contact. Be responsible, accountable, and dependable with a "can do" attitude.

-Effective written and verbal documentation and communication skills with proven ability to present concepts and ideas in a clear and coherent manner for presentation and interaction with other technical staff members.

*Desired Qualifications: *

*-Knowledge of, or experience with, weapon systems, engineering hardware design, fabrication, testing, and fielding.*

*Pre-Placement Medical Exam: * A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

*Pre-employment drug test: * External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post offer, pre-employment drug test.

*Anticipated Clearance Level: *Q (position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
