and pension. Job Summary The Manager, New Product Engineering
(Electrical), will be responsible for High-Voltage (HV) and
Low-Voltage (LV) electrical architecture, harness design, component
selection and power distribution for GILLIG's future products. You
will be a key contributor in the integration of major components
and systems such as HV traction systems, LV/HV passenger heating
systems, LV lighting and convenience systems, circuit protection
systems and LV and HV energy storage systems. You will lead a staff
of engineers who ensure designs meet customer requirements, program
targets, and industry and regulatory standards. Your team will take
new product electrical content from concept to design to
industrialization to after-sale support. This on-site position
reports to the Director of New Product Engineering in Livermore,
CA. TECHNICAL FOCUS Low Voltage electrical system, High Voltage
Electrical System, Electrical Components Key Responsibilities
Analyze new product program requirements, vehicle operational
constraints, new technological advancements and key supplier
capability to determine electrical system design strategy Evaluate
multiple solutions, concepts, and product and process improvement
opportunities to devise the overall electrical system approach that
will be contained within the program scope Work through
organizational, vehicle and subsystems trade-offs to formulate
actionable assignments for direct staff and to specify supporting
needs from other functional areas such as Manufacturing,
Purchasing, Quality and Mechanical Engineers Lead your team of
engineers to deliver high quality, cost-effective, manufacturable
and maintainable designs including release-ready drawings,
bills-of-material and technical publications input Collaborate with
Product Validation team to devise robust testing and verification
plans Make design corrections and improvements as knowledge is
gathered from testing and industrialization processes Mentor team
members to instill independent thinking, constructive
communications and robust design approaches inside and outside your
functional area Provide resources and support the implementation
needs of your systems and components for testing, Manufacturing
launch, transition to Current Product Team and into field
introduction Complete implementation of new ECAD tools,
specifically Zuken E3 such that design engineers' time, data
manageability and quality of output is optimized Contribute and
collaborate with peers in Mechanical and Controls Engineering to
fully optimize New Product Engineering resources in all phases of
product development Requirements Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Minimum of 5 years
managing a small or mid-sized design engineering staff Experience
managing simultaneous programs, field issue resolutions and
manufacturing support needs Experience with HV (750VDC) and LV
(12/24VDC) systems Experience in automotive, heavy truck, transit,
earthmoving, aircraft or major capital equipment industries
Knowledge of electrical engineering standards for vehicles such as
IEEE, SAE, NEMA 5 years of experience as a hands-on vehicle
electrical harness design engineer, electrical component design
engineer or power distribution systems engineer Experience using
collaborative ECAD tools such as Zuken E3 or Capital Harness Highly
proficient with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Preferred
Qualifications: PLM system experience, preferably Siemens
Teamcenter Knowledge of American Public Transit Association (APTA)
requirements About The Environment Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; occasionally kneel or
squat. Limited domestic travel Typical start time 7:00AM
