The W80-4 Life Extension Program involves significant component and systems level work to ensure enhanced safety and security of our nation's strategic nuclear stockpile. Sandia is the foremost National Laboratory for engineering of non-nuclear components of nuclear weapons. If joining a dynamic, hard-working, systems engineering team with an unbeatable mission for global peace and an emphasis on work life balance excites you, this role could be a phenomenal match!In this role as part of the systems electrical design team you will coordinate and support efforts concerning system-level assembly and disassembly activities including measuring, continuity, isolation, bonding, and general assembly support, and other activities as directed.On any given day you may be called to:Represent Sandia on multi-organizational project teams for development of production assembly and disassembly units at PantexSupport assembly and disassembly of system-level test unitsDirect measurements of continuity, isolation, and bondingContribute to assembly and disassembly test proceduresOversee assembly and disassembly test activities at Sandia NMSupport development of requirements as part of systems electrical design teamCoordinate mitigations for electrostatic discharge and recommended design resolutionsResponsible for system-level bonding diagrams and requirements documentsSupport ongoing system level integration testing activitiesPrepare for presentations at technical design reviewsApplicants on this requisition may be interviewed by multiple organizations at Sandia National Laboratories.Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite up to 100% of the timeQualifications We RequireBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant engineering discipline plus 2 years relevant experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience in lieu of degrees must be engineering or scientificExperience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and developmentProfessional or educational experience with electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding and bondingAcademic or job experiences in at least one of the following: circuit design or analysis, signal processing, modeling/simulation, or qualificationWillingness and ability to travel up to 25%Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearanceQualifications We DesireExperience with requirements development and documentationExperience directing testing effortsExperience designing test conceptsExperience writing process documentationAcademic or job experience with analog board designFamiliarity with engineering tools and languages such as LabVIEW, PSpice, Cadence/OrCAD, DxDesigner, MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++ or PythonOutstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compellingAbility to team well with others and listen to different perspectivesAbout Our TeamThe W80-4 System Integration Departments are part of the Sandia/California Weapon Systems Engineering Center. The Weapon Systems Engineering Center is responsible for assuring the safety, reliability and security of U.S. nuclear weapons enabling the defense of our nation through our nuclear strategic deterrent. The W80-4 System Integration Departments are comprised of a group of dedicated and motivated engineers with advanced technical degrees, primarily in mechanical and electrical engineering. A major effort for this organization is the engineering design and development in support of a Life Extension Program for a nuclear warhead (W80-4). The W80-4 warhead will be deployed on the future U.S. Air Force Long Range Standoff (LRSO) cruise missile that will replace the existing Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM)/W80 Warhead weapon system in our nation's nuclear deterrent stockpile.
