Position Summary

The Sr. Buyer will be responsible for daily purchasing and inventory functions including creating, managing, and directing purchase orders, as well as finding, developing & maintaining key relationships with suppliers. This team is often the liaise between Brand Managers, Supply Chain Management, and our suppliers-- effective communication is key. The Sr. Buyer will engage in team meetings to communicate and be able to lead on company initiatives, status, and execution. A successful candidate for this position will have excellent time management, and outstanding problem solving.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to drive key initiatives that align with the departmental and/or company goals.
  • Facilitate and lead continuous improvement efforts
  • Participate and lead Root Cause Analysis investigations
  • Negotiate and develop supplier agreements, and ensure terms are met, including delivery, price, quality
  • Supplier Relationship Management (qualification, performance, capabilities, etc.)
  • Create and update Source Control Documents and develop SOPs & OWIs as needed
  • Lead & Document cost reduction and/or quality enhancement activities
  • Ability to work professionally with internal customers and external suppliers
  • Assist with New Product Introduction & SKU rationalization efforts
  • Facilitate processing of invoices in automated AP system
  • Provide Mentorship/Coaching to the Jr. Buyer
  • Maintain ethical standards when working with external suppliers
  • Support economic sustainability by staying within budget
  • Support environmental sustainability when purchasing from suppliers

Physical Demands/Qualifications

  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders and stairs
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time throughout the workday
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to operate a computer for long periods of time without experiencing abnormal hand, wrist, or eye strain
  • Must have good communication skills in person, on the telephone, and mobile phone
  • Must have coordination sufficient to operate various office machines

Non-Physical Demands/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field with 2 years of experience in Supply Chain, or 5+ years of Purchasing experience
  • APICS/CPSM certification or equivalent preferred
  • Previous buying experience in the Wine and Spirits or CPG preferred
  • Possess superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Successfully able to establish priorities and clarify expectations with customers & suppliers in verbal or written form
  • Ability to successfully support a team: foster teamwork, share responsibilities, take initiative, and maintain open communication
  • Ability to write presentations and present information effectively to top management, public groups, and suppliers
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, margins, and percentages.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills which are necessary to interact with management, employees, and guests in a positive and professional manner
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented
  • Excellent knowledge of Office 356, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • ERP Experience, preferably Oracle/JD Edwards
  • Knowledge of Procure to Pay process
  • Project Management Experience a plus
