Infrastructure Software Engineer, Leverage EngineeringLeverage Engineering - San Francisco and New York CityThe Leverage team is scaling OpenAI with OpenAI. We apply our latest models to real-world problems to assist with or automate work across the company-then share what we learn back with the broader product and research teams. We've built an ecosystem of automation products used in customer operations, workplace, and engineering.We love building products for colleagues nearby, focusing on small touches that delight. Our goal is to prototype quickly and build for reliable long-term impact. We seek patterns across different work types to develop simple, generic solutions applicable across many domains.About the RoleWe're looking for a cloud infrastructure engineer to join our product-minded team, helping scale a rapidly-growing internal product. Having achieved internal product-market fit, we're investing in system reliability, operability, and latency. We seek a domain expert to drive improvements and foster operational excellence. You will blend your understanding of our product strategy with relationships with core infrastructure teams to enhance platform performance, impacting end users positively. We value proactive, customer-focused engineers who prioritize foundational details like data models, architecture, and security to enable a great product.In this role, you will:

• Apply your expertise in scalability, reliability, and operability to a growing internal product
• Promote a culture of operational excellence across the team
• Manage the end-to-end development lifecycle for infrastructure-dependent platform capabilities and security initiatives
• Collaborate with product engineers, infrastructure teams, stakeholders, and third-party providersYour background might include:
  • 7+ years of professional engineering experience in relevant roles at tech and product-driven companies
  • Experience scaling a product at a rapidly-growing startup is a plus
  • Proficiency with Python, relational and document databases (e.g., Postgres, Azure Cosmos DB), asynchronous queueing systems (e.g., Kafka, Temporal), and cloud providers (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP helpful)
  • Interest in AI/ML (direct experience not required)
