Surg for a travel nursing job in Soledad, California. Job

Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel The Registered Nurse
Midwife (often referred to as Certified Nurse Midwife or CNM)
provides comprehensive care to women throughout pregnancy, labor,
delivery, and postpartum periods. This role involves offering both
prenatal and postnatal care, assisting with deliveries, and
educating women and families about family planning, childbirth, and
reproductive health. The RN Midwife works in collaboration with
obstetricians, gynecologists, and other healthcare professionals to
provide high-quality care and ensure the safety and well-being of
both mother and baby. /n/nKey Responsibilities:/n /n 1. /n Prenatal
Care: /n /n - Conduct routine prenatal visits to monitor maternal
health, fetal growth, and development. /n - Perform physical exams,
assess blood pressure, weight, and fetal heart tones, and order
necessary lab tests (e.g., blood work, ultrasounds). /n - Provide
education on nutrition, exercise, and self-care during pregnancy.
/n - Identify risk factors or complications in pregnancy and
collaborate with obstetricians or other specialists as needed. /n
/n /n 2. /n Labor and Delivery Support: /n /n - Assist and support
women during labor and delivery, providing emotional, physical, and
educational support throughout the process. /n - Monitor the
progress of labor, including the frequency and intensity of
contractions, fetal heart rate, and maternal vital signs. /n -
Offer pain management options, such as natural pain relief methods
or assist with epidural placement or other medical interventions as
needed. /n - Perform deliveries within the scope of practice,
including vaginal deliveries, and manage complications if they
arise. /n - Coordinate with obstetricians and other specialists for
interventions, such as cesarean sections or emergency procedures.
/n /n /n 3. /n Postpartum Care: /n /n - Provide postpartum care for
mothers and newborns, including monitoring vital signs, helping
with breastfeeding initiation, and supporting emotional recovery.
/n - Educate mothers on infant care, breastfeeding techniques, and
self-care practices after childbirth. /n - Assist with family
planning counseling, including contraception options and advice on
recovery post-delivery. /n - Monitor for signs of postpartum
complications, including hemorrhage, infection, or depression, and
take appropriate action. /n /n /n 4. /n Patient Education and
Counseling: /n /n - Educate patients about childbirth options,
including natural birth, pain management choices, and potential
interventions. /n - Provide counseling on women’s health, including
contraception, menstrual cycles, menopause, and sexual health. /n -
Offer advice on prenatal vitamins, lifestyle choices, and health
management to ensure a healthy pregnancy and delivery. /n - Support
women in making informed decisions about their care, birth plans,
and any necessary medical interventions. /n /n /n 5. /n
Collaboration with Healthcare Team: /n /n - Collaborate with
obstetricians, pediatricians, gynecologists, and other healthcare
providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care. /n -
Participate in regular team meetings to discuss patient care, share
insights, and review any complex cases or challenges. /n - Work
with other healthcare professionals to provide continuity of care
and ensure that patient needs are met throughout the pregnancy and
after delivery. /n /n /n 6. /n Documentation and Record-Keeping: /n
/n - Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including
prenatal visits, delivery notes, postpartum care, and follow-up
plans. /n - Document all interventions, assessments, and patient
interactions in the electronic health record (EHR) system according
to hospital policies and regulatory requirements. /n /n /n 7. /n
Emergency Care and Risk Management: /n /n - Recognize and respond
to emergencies, such as fetal distress, maternal hemorrhage, or
labor complications, quickly and effectively. /n - Perform basic
life support (BLS) and assist with advanced care protocols as
needed in emergency situations. /n - Ensure that all appropriate
measures are taken for high-risk pregnancies and assist in managing
preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, or other pregnancy-related
conditions. /n /n /n 8. /n Health Promotion and Community Outreach:
/n /n - Engage in community outreach and health promotion
activities related to women’s health and maternal care. /n -
Provide educational seminars, workshops, and resources to women on
topics such as prenatal care, childbirth preparation, and
postpartum health. /n - Support initiatives aimed at improving
access to prenatal care and reducing health disparities in
