In order to deliver on our mission to design, build and support the safest and most reliable buses in the industry, GILLIG takes a thoughtful, research-based approach to developing our strategic product portfolio roadmap. We partner with our customers and our suppliers to understand customer requirements, market trends, product capabilities, technology trends and strategic opportunities. Leveraging this insight, we design and build market leading products in our world-class manufacturing facilities in Livermore, CA. .
JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Product Manager is a vital role in GILLIGs product development process and is responsible for researching, analyzing, and defining our technology roadmaps.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support the development of the companys long-term product roadmap, and near-term product development priorities
  • Develop robust analysis of competitive product offerings, roadmaps, and limitations from both technical and commercial perspectives in order to inform portfolio positioning
  • Meet with current and potential suppliers to develop an understanding of technical capabilities and future development timelines
  • Provide financial and market data analytics and develop strategic insights to support product development priorities
  • Facilitate the definition, scoping and prioritization of GILLIGs continuous improvement projects
  • Utilize macro, market, or technology trends as inputs into product plans.
  • Collaborate with GILLIG leadership and subject matter experts to gain deep understanding of requirements and customer value propositions.
  • Identify and develop business case for new product development opportunities within product portfolio, including the development of cost, demand and return on investment analyses.
  • Support development of product marketing materials and competitor claim rebuttals.
  • Develop value proposition for new products and articulate appropriate position within the business.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelors in Business, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • MBA or equivalent experience preferred
    • 3+ years in Management Consulting, Product Planning, Automotive Engineering, Corporate Strategy, or Product Development or Sales of relevant products
    • Significant experience in durable manufactured products with preference for background in Transportation, Aerospace, and/or Agricultural, Construction or other Off-Road Equipment
    • Ability to analyze highly detailed, technical product information and distill salient comparisons in clear and concise, executive level presentations
    • Exceptional organizational, planning, and project management skills
    • Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to deliver on tight deadlines
    • Proven technical, quantitative and critical-thinking skills, high level of independent judgment, initiative and creativity to identify and clearly communicate key performance drivers to senior management
    • Hands-on experience applying strategic and tactical decision-making tools and methods such as Analytic hierarchy process, Pugh analysis, Kano, Ansoff, X-Matrix, etc.
    • Experience commercializing advanced technology and R&D preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to develop compelling conclusions with incomplete data
    • Effective written, interpersonal and oral communication skills

      ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT

      • Daily responsibilities require consistent attendance in the office to support production and other organizational needs
      • Physical requirements Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; Sitting may be for long periods of time
      • Working environment - office
      • Occasional domestic travel may be required
