Job Title Facilities Manager (17739BR) Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. AIS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customers mission. Available employment opportunities may range from administrative and logistical support to advanced technical positions. Qualified applicants must be a , at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, andor background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly-motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS. The Physical and Life Sciences (PLS) Office of the Associate Director has an opening for a Facility Manager. Facilities operated by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory include offices, shops, and scientific and research facilities. Working under limited supervision and in a safe and efficient manner, the selected candidate will have facility management and project management responsibilities, participating in multi-disciplinary teams to assist in developing project scope and design input. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing input to the definition of each projectrsquos technical scope, method of accomplishment, cost, and schedule objectives as well as reporting out on assigned projects. In addition, the selected candidate will be responsible for providing basic technical and administrative support to facility management personnel in connection with tenant support, facility maintenance, construction projects, sponsor deliverables, and facility operations or similar facility support activities. Responsibilities include basic support of projects including relocations, upgrades, light construction, maintenance, and remodeling activities. This position requires the individual to interact regularly with other facility team members, facility managers, service personnel, and tenants. The successful candidate will report to the Area Facility Operations Manager (AFOM). This position may require the successful candidate have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments. Essential Duties Ensure facility systems, special facility and mechanical equipment, including the facility heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical systems, fire protection systems, and alarm systems function reliably. Maintain awareness of current and future critical tenant facility infrastructure needs. Anticipate facility infrastructure risks and create and implement plans to mitigate the risks. Develop, champion, and manage complex facility repair and modification projects and report progress to the AFOM. Participate in Management Observations and Inspection (MOI) walkthroughs, managing facility related deficiencies and issues to closure, report andor take action on results, identify problems, plan projects to solve problems and implement solutions Assist in the effort to manage, direct, and monitor projects to accomplish complex technical efforts to define scope requirements, estimate, design, procure, and construct each assigned project. Responsible for meeting clientrsquos functional criteria, negotiate requirements and limitations as defined by facility management, monitor projects to ensure they remain on schedule and within cost objectives, and participate in technical design reviews. Communicate project status to management, resolve issues, maintain project file, and recommend addition, expansion or discontinuance of project scope to ensure successful completion of the project. Interact with facility management, service providers, and facility tenants on day-to-day service needs and solve basic technical problems. Coordinate and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks and priorities associated with facility related activities of crafts, contractors, vendors, other project managers, construction managers, Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) teams, Radioactive and Hazardous Waste Management (RHWM), Environmental Protection Department, and residents. Assist in space utilization. Update building key plans as required. Analyze complex data to develop, review, and adhere by procedures and plans including safety basis documentation, change control forms, Facility Safety Plans, Work Control Documents, roof access plans, and facility project plans. Back up other facility managers as needed and perform other duties as assigned. Perform all assignments in accordance with ESH, security, and business practice requirements and policies. Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities BS degree in a technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) with extensive related experience. Significant experience in all aspects of project management, including project planning and scheduling. Advanced knowledge of the operation and maintenance of HVAC, architectural, and facility utility systems found in office, shop, and scientific and research facilities. Extensive experience in facility management, facility maintenance, or facility operations and advanced level knowledge of interactions and interdependence of facility related systems and Program operations equipment. Advanced knowledge of initiating and coordinating work orders and assessing maintenance and repair needs. Advanced knowledge of environment, safety, health, and security policies and procedures as they apply to offices, shops, scientific and research facilities. Intermediate customer service skills and the ability to work independently or as a team member interfacing well with others. Experience using software applications such as Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook email calendar and web browsers. Demonstrated advanced communication skills, both verbal and written, sufficient to interact with co-workers, tenants of facilities and other internal organizations. Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact effectively with co-workers, facility tenants, managers, and service providers. Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Facilities Management Certification from an accredited university or industry recognized association such as International Facility Management Association (IFMA) or Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI). Demonstrated subject matter expert knowledge of project management principles, practices, methodologies and tools as required for the project management of facility development projects Substantial experience mentoring peers and leading teams. Experience working with ESH Teams, Safeguards Security, Procurement Material, and other relevant LLNL resources. Special Requirements Pre-Placement Medical Exam A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.
