Job Summary

The Senior FEA Engineer's role is dynamic and vital to GILLIG's growth and future product development. This is a new role for GILLIG, as such this individual will also be vital to developing GILLIGs tooling infrastructure to support growth in GILLIGs Finite Element Analysis, simulation and modeling needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and establish framework for Simulation and modeling tool suites for first time deployment
  • Detailed and applied knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, Applied Solid Mechanics, Material Science, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics
  • Perform Modal and Vibration Induced Fatigue Analysis of simple and complex systems and Vehicles
  • Develop and hone-in on realistic boundary conditions when Models and testing do not align
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and with teams on problems that are challenging to solve and requiring innovative solutions
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver analysis on challenging projects with tight timing constraints
  • Act as lead on specific projects with responsibility for running simulations on programs and developing FE and CFD models
  • Perform advanced CAE simulations to evaluate and improve Vehicle, Systems and component level performance
  • Document and contextualize simulation results for Program and Engineering Leadership, providing detailed analysis reports and making design change recommendations based on simulation findings and design knowledge
  • Lead consulting design review meetings aimed at providing guidance on critical design decisions
  • Perform other duties as required

    Requirements
    • Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or a related Engineering degree (Master's Degree a plus)
    • 10+ years of relevant work experience in the automotive, on/off highway, transportation equipment or related field
    • Experience working with aluminum, steel, composite structures, and a variety of advanced joining methods for shock and vibration analysis
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues
    • Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking, collects and researches data, uses intuition and experience to complement data. Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement
    • Detail oriented, highly organized documentation practices
    • Detailed and applied knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, Applied Solid Mechanics, Material Science, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics
    • Demonstrate ability to work independently and with teams on problems that are challenging to solve and requiring innovative solutions
    • Solid analytical skills developing systems performance
    • Demonstrate ability to deliver analysis on challenging projects with sometimes tight time constraints
    • Solid written and verbal communication skills
    • Relevant experience in HD vehicle systems engineering and integration a plus
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

      About The Environment
      • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
      • Regularly required to sit, stand and walk and occasionally kneel or squat
      • Typical start time 6:00AM (negotiable)
      • Some travel may be required
