Specialist – Job Duties Take ownership of payroll from start to
finish for a residential construction business, keeping weekly
payroll running smoothly and on time Review timecards, commissions,
piecework, and payroll details with a sharp eye, catching
inconsistencies and fixing issues before they become problems Run
payroll drafts and work closely with leadership to get everything
finalized and approved with confidence Handle payroll payments
including direct deposit, manual checks, and occasional off cycle
runs Manage year-end payroll responsibilities, including W-2
processing and tie-outs Oversee employee benefits programs—medical,
dental, vision, and retirement—ensuring deductions are accurate and
vendors are paid correctly Input wage garnishments and agency
communications, staying on top of compliance details so nothing
slips through the cracks Track sick time accruals and remain
aligned with California and applicable multi-state labor
requirements Keep payroll, benefits, and compliance records clean,
organized, and audit-ready always Generate payroll and benefits
reports leadership can rely on for audits, reviews, and internal
controls Maintain employee payroll and benefits records for new
hires, changes, and terminations with accuracy and care Payroll and
Benefits Specialist – You Have (Required Skills, Experience & Team
Fit) Experience handling payroll in a busy, fast-moving environment
where accuracy and timing matter Background supporting employee
benefits such as health insurance and retirement plans A solid
grasp of payroll compliance, wage and hour rules, and garnishments
Comfort working in payroll systems and accounting ERP platforms
Strong Excel skills used to keep payroll calculations,
reconciliations, and reporting clean and accurate A natural eye for
detail and pride in getting things right Ease working independently
and taking ownership in a small business environment A
team-oriented, low-drama approach with a strong sense of
accountability Ability and preference to work 100% in the office
Payroll and Benefits Specialist – You Might Have (Desired, Not
Required) Prior experience with Quickbooks Online (QBO) Experience
supporting construction or residential trades payroll Familiarity
with piecework, commissions, or multi-entity payroll structures
Exposure to HR compliance beyond payroll and benefits
administration Payroll and Benefits Specialist – Benefits for You
Your compensation for this Payroll and Benefits Specialist role
will be a competitive salary in the $70,000 to $80,000 range,
depending on your experience. You will receive medical, dental and
vision benefits with company contribution, paid time off and paid
holidays. This Payroll and Benefits Specialist role is full-time,
fully on-site in Rancho Cordova.
